Mark Kamau is a brilliant young man from a rural village who just received his KCSE results: a straight A-minus, placing him among the top students in his county. He has worked tirelessly, often studying by lantern light, and has earned a coveted spot to study Medicine and Surgery at the University of Nairobi. However, Mark comes from a family of subsistence farmers who cannot afford the tuition, accommodation, and books required for his first year. Without intervention, this life-changing opportunity will slip away.
